Katt and Fredda have been underway for a long time. A long journey is behind them, full of strain and the troubles of yearning and worries. Then one day all the wandering about, all the obstacles have finally been overcome. At last they have managed to find a place, they have managed to land on dry ground. They have furnished their room beautifully. All they need is there: Two chairs, two plates, things of everyday life. Perfectly furnished, comfortable, peaceful and undisturbed.
Why shouldn't it stay like this?, Fredda hopes. Because Katt thinks about visitors. That one day a visitor could come, something new could happen, something exciting. A visit has some attraction. But wouldn't it disturb all the order? So Katt and Fredda decide to stay undisturbed, - "the two of us - forever".
And there is Miranda. She is wandering about, from one place to the other. Miranda comes along and just wants to pop in. Miranda wants to do everything together, with other people, because life is more fun that way. And suddenly Katt and Fredda have a visitor. Soon nothing is as it was before. Is there space for three, where everything was prepared for two before? Who plays with whom, and who stays outside?
Suddenly Fredda, the one who didn't want to have a visitor, is the one who discovers how exciting a visitor can be. But Katt imagined the visit somehow different. And what can happen when the visitor is king, because a king can do and not do what he wants...
